Cremco Laxative Substitute

Cremco Laxative is a combination of two laxatives (stool softeners), namely: milk of magnesia (osmotic laxative) and liquid paraffin (lubricant). Milk of magnesia works by drawing water into the intestine through osmosis, while liquid paraffin has lubricant properties that help retain water and fat in the stools. Together, they make the stool soft and slippery making it easier to pass.

Cremco Laxative does not help with weight loss. It does not reduce the absorption of calories or nutrients. Cremco Laxative may cause dehydration which feels like weight loss. Drink enough liquids to prevent dehydration.

Diarrhoea might occur if Cremco Laxative is taken in larger doses. Drink lots of fluids and eat fibre-rich food if you experience diarrhoea. If you find blood in your stools (tarry stools) or experience excess diarrhoea consult your doctor. Do not take anti-diarrheal medicine on your own.

Overuse or prolonged use of Cremco Laxative may cause dehydration. Severe dehydration may cause weakness, tremors, fainting, and blurry vision. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience these symptoms. Drink enough fluids to avoid dehydration.

Consult your doctor before taking Cremco Laxative with other medicines as Cremco Laxative may increase the rate of gastrointestinal transit, which may affect the absorption of other orally administered medicines given simultaneously.
