Medicinal Benefits:
Furotop SA Ointment is a combination of two medicines: Mometasone and Salicylic acid. Mometasone belongs to the corticosteroid class and has anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and antiproliferative (inhibit cell growth) properties. It blocks prostaglandin's production (chemical messengers that cause the skin to become red, swollen, and itchy). Salicylic acid enhances the absorption of mometasone. It is a keratolytic medicine (softens, separates, and peels the skin layer), which breaks down the clumps of keratin, removes dead skin cells, and softens the skin. It is also an anti-inflammatory and topical antibacterial agent.

Furotop SA Ointment is for topical use only. It should not be applied to the face for more than 5 days. Do not apply it on larger areas of skin. Do not cover the treated area with a bandage or plaster, especially the face, without checking with your doctor. Do not use the medicine in and around your eyes. If the medicine accidentally gets into your eyes, nose, mouth, or genitals, rinse with water thoroughly.
Furotop SA Ointment may raise blood glucose levels by suppressing insulin (a hormone essential for glucose utilization) secretion, so patients with diabetes should consult a doctor before using Furotop SA Ointment.
Furotop SA Ointment might improve your symptoms within the first 2 weeks of your treatment. However, if there is no improvement in your condition, consult your doctor immediately.
Furotop SA Ointment may cause common side effects such as itching, dryness, redness, irritation, and burning sensation at the application site. These side effects usually mild and do not require medical attention.
Although this ointment has exfoliating properties due to the presence of Salicylic Acid, it's primarily meant for treating skin disorders like eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. Use for acne should be under medical supervision.
The time taken to see improvement depends on the condition being treated and individual response to the medication. Regular and consistent use as directed by your doctor is key.
