Nupod DS 100 mg Syrup belongs to the group of antibiotic medicines called 'cephalosporins' used to treat a wide range of ear, nose, throat, lower respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissue bacterial infections. It is composed of Cefpodoxime Proxetil. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, aerobic and some anaerobic bacteria. Nupod DS 100 mg Syrup works by preventing the formation of bacterial cell covering, which is necessary for their survival. Thereby, it kills the bacteria and helps treat and prevent the spread of infections.

Diarrhoea is the most reported common side effect of Nupod DS 100 mg Syrup. In most cases, Nupod DS 100 mg Syrup does not require medical attention and gradually resolves over time. However, if you notice any of these side effects persist or worsen your child’s condition, inform your doctor immediately. Do not take anti-diarrheal medicine on your own.
It is recommended to complete the course of Nupod DS 100 mg Syrup even if your child is feeling better as it is an antibiotic, and leaving it in between may lead to even severe infection that will, in fact, stop responding to the antibiotic as well (antibiotic resistance).
Nupod DS 100 mg Syrup may cause stomach upset as a side effect. To avoid this, give Nupod DS 100 mg Syrup, preferably with food. Taking Nupod DS 100 mg Syrup with food helps in increasing its absorption in the body.
Do not use antacids or antiulcer medicines along with Nupod DS 100 mg Syrup. Maintaining at least a gap of 2-3 hours between both drugs is recommended if required. Consult your doctor for more information.
