Medicinal Benefits:
Surelex 250 DT Tablet belongs to the group of antibiotics called cephalosporin used to treat various bacterial infections of the nose, lungs, ear, bones, joints, skin, urinary tract, prostate gland, and reproductive system. Surelex 250 DT Tablet is bactericidal in nature. Surelex 250 DT Tablet works by blocking the activity of enzymes which are responsible for making peptidoglycan, an important component of the bacterial cell wall. Thereby, kills the bacteria and helps in treating and preventing the spread of infections. Surelex 250 DT Tablet is a broad-spectrum antibiotic which is effective against a wide range of bacteria such as gram-positive staphylococci and streptococci bacteria, including susceptible isolates of Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, S. pyrogens, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Moraxella catarrhalis, and Proteus mirabilis.

Diarrhoea might be a side-effect of Surelex 250 DT Tablet. Drink lots of fluids and eat food rich in fibre if you experience diarrhoea. If you find blood in stools (tarry stools) or if you experience prolonged diarrhoea with abdominal pain, stop taking Surelex 250 DT Tablet and consult your doctor. Do not take anti-diarrheal medicine on your own.
It is recommended to complete the course of Surelex 250 DT Tablet even if you feel better as it is an antibiotic, and leaving it in between may lead to even severe infection that will, in fact, stop responding to the antibiotic as well (antibiotic resistance).
Do not take Surelex 250 DT Tablet on your own as self-medication may lead to antibiotic-resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections.
Surelex 250 DT Tablet may affect certain laboratory test results such as blood tests for liver function, glucose test, and coombs test. Inform the person doing the tests that you are taking Surelex 250 DT Tablet.
Surelex 250 DT Tablet might interfere with the effectiveness of oral contraceptives (birth control pills). This could lead to an unplanned pregnancy. Consult your doctor if you have any concerns regarding this; your doctor may suggest an alternate method of contraception.
