Acgel 1% Lotion belongs to a group of medicines known as macrolide antibiotics used to treat acne vulgaris. Acne vulgaris is a common skin condition that almost everyone suffers from at some point in their lives. Acne develops when hair follicles become clogged with dead skin cells and oil.
Acgel 1% Lotion contains Clarithromycin, which inhibits the synthesis of essential nutrients required for bacterial survival. As a result, Acgel 1% Lotion kills the acne-causing bacteria.
Acgel 1% Lotion is for external use only. Some people may experience side effects like burning sensation, peeling, itching, redness and dry skin. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, consult a doctor.
Do not use Acgel 1% Lotion if you are allergic to clarithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics such as erythromycin, azithromycin, or any of the other components of this medicine. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. While applying Acgel 1% Lotion, make sure it does not come in contact with the nose, eyes or mucous membrane. If Acgel 1% Lotion accidentally comes in contact with these areas, rinse with water thoroughly.
