Thus, it is used in combination with other medicines to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by anti-cancer medicines in adults and adolescents from the age of 12 years.

About Apritax Kit 125/80 Capsule

Apritax Kit 125/80 Capsule belongs to a class of drugs called anti-emetics. It is used in combination with other medicines to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy (anti-cancer medicines) in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and above. Nausea is a feeling of uneasiness in the stomach that often comes before vomiting. On the other hand, vomiting is the forcible voluntary or involuntary emptying of stomach contents through the mouth.

Apritax Kit 125/80 Capsule contains Aprepitant, a neurokinin 1 (NK1) receptor antagonist which works by blocking the neurokinin-1 receptor (causes the feeling of sickness) present in the vomiting centre in the brain. Thus, it helps prevent nausea and vomiting.

APREPITANT-205MGAlcoholic liver disease
Moderate
How does the disease interact with Apritax Kit 125/80 Capsule:
The liver is primarily responsible for Apritax Kit 125/80 Capsule metabolism. Apritax Kit 125/80 Capsule was well tolerated in investigations of patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh score 5 to 9), and no clinically significant changes in its pharmacokinetics were seen. As a result, there is no need to change the dosage of Apritax Kit 125/80 Capsule in this patient population. Apritax Kit 125/80 Capsule should be used with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh score > 9), as there is no clinical or pharmacokinetic data in this population.

How to manage the interaction:
Apritax Kit 125/80 Capsule is metabolized by the liver, hence it is usually not recommended in patients with mild to moderate liver disease as it can increase the Apritax Kit 125/80 Capsule level in the body. Increased levels can increase the risk and severity of Apritax Kit 125/80 Capsule side effects. However, you can take it when advised by your doctor. If you experience headache, fatigue, low appetite, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, and hiccups contact your doctor immediately. Do not discontinue any medications without first consulting your doctor.
