About Bisvig 120 Tablet

Bisvig 120 Tablet belongs to the class of antiulcer drugs, primarily used to treat peptic ulcer, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and Helicobacter pylori infection. Gastroesophageal reflux disease occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). Peptic ulcers are sores that develop on the inner lining of the intestine and stomach. Bisvig 120 Tablet is usually given in combination with antibiotics and proton pump inhibitors.

Bisvig 120 Tablet contains Tripotassium dicitrato bismuthate. It acts as an ulcer protectant and heals ulcers. It also has a little acid-neutralizing effect and acts as a diffusion barrier to the acid present in the stomach. Bisvig 120 Tablet is also bactericidal (kills bacteria) against Helicobacter pylori (that causes gastritis and peptic ulcers). It is known to increase mucosal secretion of prostaglandins, which inhibit acid secretion in the stomach.

Take Bisvig 120 Tablet as advised by the doctor. Your doctor will advise the appropriate dose that suits your medical condition. Common side effects of Bisvig 120 Tablet include headache, diarrhoea, black faeces, mild dizziness, and belching. These side effects may not occur in every patient using this medication and differ individually. If the side effects persist longer or worsen, please seek a doctor’s advice.

Let your doctor know if you are sensitive or allergic to Bisvig 120 Tablet or any other medications. Directions for Use

Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water. You can take it with food at regular intervals, as prescribed by the doctor. Do not crush, chew or break it.

Concomitant (simultaneous) use of milk and antacids with Bisvig 120 Tablet is not recommended. It is advised to not take milk or antacids within 30 minutes before or after administration of Bisvig 120 Tablet. Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or a nursing mother before starting Bisvig 120 Tablet. Avoid alcohol intake while using Bisvig 120 Tablet since it can increase acid production in the stomach. Bisvig 120 Tablet may cause mild dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Bisvig 120 Tablet should not be given to children below 12 years of age as safety have not been established.

Bisvig 120 Tablet contains Tripotassium dicitrato bismuthate that works by forming a protective coating against ulcer formation. It also has a bactericidal action against Helicobacter pylori that causes gastritis and peptic ulcers. Thus, Bisvig 120 Tablet relieves stomach ulcers, heartburn, GERD, and other gastrointestinal discomforts.

Bisvig 120 Tablet is usually not recommended for longer durations. Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better even after taking Bisvig 120 Tablet for 4 to 8 weeks. Do not take Bisvig 120 Tablet for longer durations unless prescribed by the doctor. While being treated with Bisvig 120 Tablet, a regular check-up is advised.

Antacids may interfere with the absorption of Bisvig 120 Tablet. It is advised to take antacid and Bisvig 120 Tablet with a gap of 30 minutes. Please seek medical advice on how to use other medicines like antacids while using Bisvig 120 Tablet.

Diarrhoea might be a side effect of Bisvig 120 Tablet. Drink lots of fluids and eat foods rich in fibre if you experience diarrhoea. If you find blood in stools (tarry stools) or experience excess diarrhoea, consult your doctor.

Concomitant (simultaneous) use of milk with Bisvig 120 Tablet is not recommended. It is advised to not take milk within 30 minutes before or after administration of Bisvig 120 Tablet.

In some cases, due to excess acid production, the mucous layer gets irritated or eroded, which leads to complications like GERD, hyperacidity, peptic ulcers and heartburn. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus). This backflow (acid reflux) irritates the food pipe and causes heartburn. Symptoms include heartburn, sour or bitter taste in the mouth, and difficulty swallowing.

Peptic ulcers: These are sores that develop on the lining of the stomach and intestine due to erosion. Symptoms include nausea, changes in appetite, bloody or dark stools, unexplained weight loss, vomiting, and indigestion.
