Calmbeta-40 Tablet belongs to the group of medicines called anxiolytics used to treat anxiety. Besides this, Calmbeta-40 Tablet is also used to treat high blood pressure, panic disorder, seizure disorder, fast heartbeat, and migraine. Anxiety is a mental health disorder characterised by feelings of anxiety, worry or fear that are strong enough to interfere with one’s daily activities. Symptoms of anxiety include rapid breathing, increased heart rate, restlessness, trouble concentrating, and difficulty falling asleep.
Calmbeta-40 Tablet is a combination of two drugs: Clonazepam (benzodiazepine) and Propranolol (beta-blocker). Clonazepam works by increasing the action of a chemical messenger called GABA; this helps suppress the excessive and abnormal activity of the nerve cells in the brain. Propranolol blocks certain chemical messengers' action on the heart and blood vessels; this helps reduce heart rate and blood pressure.
You are advised to take Calmbeta-40 Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as dry mouth, slow heart rate, depression, fatigue, nightmares, sleep disturbances, memory impairment, and confusion. You are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.
Please do not stop taking Calmbeta-40 Tablet on your own as it might cause withdrawal symptoms. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Calmbeta-40 Tablet may cause dizziness and sleepiness; do not drive or handle machinery unless you are alert. Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking Calmbeta-40 Tablet as it may cause increased dizziness. Calmbeta-40 Tablet is not recommended for children as safety and effectiveness were not established. Calmbeta-40 Tablet contains Clonazepam and Propranolol. Propranolol blocks certain chemical messengers' action on the heart and blood vessels; this helps reduce heart rate and blood pressure.
Do not stop taking Calmbeta-40 Tablet on your own as it might increase the seizure frequency, chest pain and heart attack. Stopping it suddenly may cause withdrawal symptoms such as nausea, anxiety, muscle pain, and flu-like symptoms. Consult your doctor if you experience any difficulty while taking Calmbeta-40 Tablet; the doctor may gradually reduce the dose.
Dry mouth could be a side-effect of Calmbeta-40 Tablet. Limiting caffeine intake, avoiding smoking and mouthwashes containing alcohol, drinking water regularly, and chewing sugar-free gum/candy might stimulate saliva and prevent drying of the mouth.
Calmbeta-40 Tablet has high habit-forming potential. Therefore, take Calmbeta-40 Tablet only in the dose and duration prescribed by the doctor.
Calmbeta-40 Tablet might cause weight gain or weight loss, depending on person to person. Eat a balanced diet and exercise regularly to prevent weight gain; if you experience weight loss, increase your diet portions.
Calmbeta-40 Tablet may cause postural hypotension. Postural hypotension is a sudden lowering in blood pressure leading to dizziness on standing. To prevent this, do not try to stand up suddenly or start walking; instead, lie down and get up slowly only when you feel better.
