Cefolac XL 200 mg Tablet belongs to a group of medications called ‘Antibiotics’ used to treat bacterial infections. Bacterial infections are caused by the multiplication of harmful bacteria inside or on the body. These harmful bacteria produce chemicals known as toxins, which can damage tissue and make you sick. Symptoms of bacterial infection vary depending on the organ affected by bacteria.

Cefolac XL 200 mg Tablet contains Cefixime and Cloxacillin. Cefixime is a cephalosporin antibiotic, whereas Cloxacillin is a penicillin antibiotic. Cefolac XL 200 mg Tablet has bactericidal action (kills bacteria). It works by preventing the formation of the cell wall (the outer protective layer of bacteria, which is essential for its survival) by preventing protein synthesis.

You should take this medicine exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Cefolac XL 200 mg Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections. It is active against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It has a broad spectrum of activity and can be used to treat bacterial infections such as tonsillitis (swollen tonsils), pharyngitis (sore throat), pneumonia (inflammation of the air sacs present in the lungs), bronchitis (inflammation of the bronchi) and other respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections and urinary tract infections.

Co-administration of Cefolac XL 200 mg Tablet with Cholera vaccine may reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine.

How to manage the interaction:
Talk to your doctor before receiving the cholera vaccine if you are currently being treated with Cefolac XL 200 mg Tablet or have been treated within the last 14 days. To ensure adequate vaccine response, you should not receive cholera vaccine until at least 14 days after you complete your antibiotic therapy.
