About Cilacil-MT Tablet

Cilacil-MT Tablet belongs to the group of anti-hypertensive medicines that are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Cilacil-MT Tablet helps lower blood pressure, thereby reducing the chances of heart problems such as heart attack and stroke. High blood pressure is a condition where the blood exerts increased pressure on the walls of blood vessels. Symptoms include headache, dizziness, nosebleeds, changes in vision, chest pain, weakness, and dyspnea (shortness of breath). The majority of the time, there are no symptoms or indicators of hypertension.
 
Cilacil-MT Tablet is a combination of Cilnidipine and Metoprolol succinate. Cilnidipine acts on the calcium channels of the blood vessels which suppress the contraction of blood vessels and promote smooth blood flow. Metoprolol succinate lowers heart rate and facilitates simpler blood circulation throughout the body. Thus, Cilacil-MT Tablet helps treat hypertension.

Take as prescribed. You are advised to take Cilacil-MT Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. Sometimes, you may experience certain common side effects such as headache, nausea, dizziness, weakness, decreased blood pressure, and a slow heart rate. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will subside over time. However, if any of these side effects persist, consult your doctor.
 
Do not stop taking Cilacil-MT Tablet on your own as abrupt stopping may cause a sudden increase in blood pressure. Consult your doctor before taking Cilacil-MT Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Cilacil-MT Tablet is not recommended for children as efficacy and safety have not been established. Cilacil-MT Tablet may cause dizziness, so drive with caution. Avoid consuming alcohol as it might cause increased dizziness. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking and about your health condition to rule out any unpleasant side effects/interactions.

Directions for Use

Take Cilacil-MT Tablet with or without food as advised by the doctor. Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water; do not crush, break or chew it.

Drug Warnings

Do not take Cilacil-MT Tablet if you are allergic to any of its contents. Inform your doctor before taking Cilacil-MT Tablet if you have diabetes, circulation problems, asthma, thyroid disorder, adrenal gland tumour, heart, kidney, or liver problems; if you are on a low-salt diet, or if you are taking potassium supplements. Consult your doctor before taking Cilacil-MT Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Cilacil-MT Tablet is not recommended for children as efficacy and safety have not been established. Cilacil-MT Tablet may cause dizziness, so drive with caution. Avoid consuming alcohol as it might cause increased dizziness. Rise slowly from lying/sitting position as Cilacil-MT Tablet may cause dizziness (orthostatic hypotension).

  • Consume low salt and low-fat diet while taking Cilacil-MT Tablet . 
  • Regular exercise is also recommended to complement treatment with Cilacil-MT Tablet .
  • Eat a diet rich in whole grains, vegetables, and fruits.
  • Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption.
  • Maintain a healthy weight with proper diet and exercise.

Cilacil-MT Tablet may cause a slow heart rate (bradycardia). A minor fluctuation should not be a worry; however, if a slow heart rate continues or you begin to feel unwell, speak with your doctor.

The workload on the heart and arteries is increased by high blood pressure. It could harm the blood vessels in the heart, brain, and kidneys, which could lead to a stroke, heart failure, or renal failure if left untreated. The likelihood of heart attacks rises with hypertension. Anti-hypertensives like Cilacil-MT Tablet are therefore used to bring blood pressure to a normal level, lowering the risk of developing certain disorders.

Please do not stop taking Cilacil-MT Tablet without consulting your doctor as abrupt stopping may lead to a rise in blood pressure. Orthostatic hypotension could be a side-effect of Cilacil-MT Tablet . Orthostatic hypotension is a sudden lowering in blood pressure leading to dizziness on standing. If you experience this condition, do not try to stand up suddenly or start walking, instead lie down and get up slowly only when you feel better. Your doctor may monitor your blood pressure levels regularly while you are on treatment with this medicine, to avoid unpleasant events.

Cilacil-MT Tablet may cause swelling in the ankles or feet. If you experience edema, raise your legs while sitting down. Talk to your doctor if the swelling persists or if you have any concerns.
