Clomistar 75mg Tablet SR belongs to a class of drugs called 'antidepressant' used to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, panic and anxiety disorder. OCD is a mental disorder with symptoms such as excessive thoughts or ideas (obsessions), leading to repetitive behaviours (compulsions). Depression is a mood disorder associated with symptoms such as sadness, unable to sleep properly or enjoy life as you used to do. Panic or anxiety disorder is linked to anxiety with sudden feelings of unnecessary fear or worries even when there is no danger in reality.

Clomistar 75mg Tablet SR contains Clomipramine which works by increasing the activity of serotonin and noradrenaline (chemical messengers) in the brain involved in regulating mood, behaviour and emotions. Thereby, Clomistar 75mg Tablet SR helps relieve depression, lighten the mood and relieve anxiety symptoms such as fear and panic.

Take Clomistar 75mg Tablet SR with food as prescribed by your doctor and swallow whole with a glass of water. Do not break, crush or chew it. Your doctor will advise you how often you take Clomistar 75mg Tablet SR based on your medical condition. Some people may experience dizziness, headache, drowsiness, dry mouth, nausea, weight gain, increased sweating, constipation, shaking, blurred vision, erectile dysfunction or difficulty in urination. Most of these side effects of Clomistar 75mg Tablet SR do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Clomistar 75mg Tablet SR or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Clomistar 75mg Tablet SR is not recommended for children below 17 years of age. Avoid taking Clomistar 75mg Tablet SR if you are pregnant as it may cause harm to the foetus. Avoid breastfeeding while taking Clomistar 75mg Tablet SR as it may be excreted in human milk and cause adverse effects in the baby. If you have any self-harming or suicidal thoughts before taking Clomistar 75mg Tablet SR, inform your doctor as they may worsen in the initial days of taking Clomistar 75mg Tablet SR.

Do not take Clomistar 75mg Tablet SR with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) such as moclobemide, tranylcypromine and phenelzine used to treat depression as it may cause severe adverse effects. Also, avoid taking Clomistar 75mg Tablet SR with buprenorphine as it may cause a serious life-threatening condition. If you have fits, low blood pressure, mania, glaucoma, difficulty in urination, a blood disorder, hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland), severe constipation, pheochromocytoma (tumor of the adrenal gland), low potassium levels in blood, kidney, liver, or heart problems, inform your doctor before taking Clomistar 75mg Tablet SR.
