Coupress N Syrup

Coupress N Syrup belongs to a class of medications called ‘expectorants’ primarily used to treat dry cough. Coughing (dry or productive) is a body’s way of clearing irritants (like allergens, mucus, or smoke) from airways and preventing infection. There are two types of coughs, namely: Dry cough and chesty cough. A dry cough is tickly and doesn't produce any vicious or thick mucus, while a chesty cough (wet cough) means mucous or sputum is produced to help clear your airways. 

Coupress N Syrup is a combination of three drugs, namely: Noscapine (cough suppressant), Ammonium chloride (expectorant), and Sodium citrate (mucolytic agent). Noscapine belongs to the cough suppressants class that blocks the transmission of nerve signals from the cough center in the brain to the muscles that produce cough, thereby decreasing the need to cough. Ammonium chloride belongs to the class of expectorants that reduce mucus stickiness and clear airways. Sodium citrate is a mucolytic agent (cough/sputum thinner) that works by thinning and loosening phlegm (mucus) in the lungs, windpipe, and nasal passage. 

Take Coupress N Syrup as prescribed. Your doctor will recommend you how often you take Coupress N Syrup based on your medical condition. Some people may experience headache, dizziness, nausea, constipation, and drowsiness. Most of these side effects of Coupress N Syrup do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Coupress N Syrup or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Coupress N Syrup is usually not recommended for pregnant women as it may cause adverse effects on the baby. However, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is advised to inform your doctor before using Coupress N Syrup. Use Coupress N Syrup with caution in children if prescribed by a doctor and in patients with pre-existing respiratory failure or any other lung disease. Coupress N Syrup may cause severe allergic reactions such as chest tightness, unusual hoarseness, difficulty breathing, talking or swallowing, itching, blistered, swollen, or peeling skin with or without fever, swelling of the face, mouth, tongue, lips, or throat in some people. It is not necessary for everyone taking Coupress N Syrup to experience these reactions. However, if you notice any of these symptoms while taking Coupress N Syrup, please consult a doctor. If you have diabetes, fits, diarrhoea associated with infection, kidney, liver, or respiratory problems, inform your doctor before taking Coupress N Syrup.

You are recommended to inform your doctor if the cough persists or worsens after taking Coupress N Syrup for 1 week.
