FAQs

Cypon Drops contains Cyproheptadine hydrochloride (antihistamine) and Tricholine citrate (bile acid-binding agent). Cyproheptadine works by inhibiting the effect of a chemical messenger (serotonin), thereby helping to stimulate the appetite. Tricholine works by removing excess bile acid production.

Children

Safe if prescribed

Cypon Drops is safe for children if prescribed by the child's doctor. Your paediatrician will decide the dose of the medicine. Do not give more than the recommended dose to your child.

About Cypon Drops

Cypon Drops is an appetite stimulant medicine. It is used to increase hunger in children. It helps treat anorexia in underweight children who have inadequate dietary intake. Anorexia (loss of appetite) is defined as a symptom of not feeling hungry or not having the desire to eat food. Cypon Drops helps treat such a condition in underweight children who have an inadequate dietary intake.

Cypon Drops is a combination medicine containing Cyproheptadine hydrochloride (antihistamine) and Tricholine citrate (bile acid-binding agent). Cyproheptadine works by inhibiting the effect of a chemical messenger (serotonin), thereby helping to stimulate the appetite. Tricholine works by removing excess bile acid production. The liver then produces more bile acid utilizing more cholesterol in this process, which in turn lowers the fat content in the child's body.

Cypon Drops may cause certain side effects in your child, such as dry mouth, drowsiness, headache, blurred vision, and confusion. These side effects do not require medical attention. However, if these side effects worsen, please consult your paediatrician. Cypon Drops should be given as advised by your doctor. Do not give more than the prescribed dose of the medicine to the child. Cypon Drops should be given 30 minutes before food. The dose of the medicine will be decided by your pediatrician, depending on your child’s condition.

Cypon Drops is intended for paediatric use only. Avoid giving Cypon Drops to your child if he/she is allergic to any of the components present in the formulation. Keep your doctor informed about your child’s health condition, including his current medications and medical history, to rule out any side effects/interactions. Before administration, inform your paediatrician if your child has any liver or kidney disease or asthma.
