About Cytodrox Capsule

Cytodrox Capsule belongs to a group of classes known as an antimetabolite. It is an anticancer medicine used to treat head and neck cancer and sickle cell anemia (blocking the flow of blood that causes pain and organ damage). Head and neck cancer is a disease including abnormal growth of the tissues of the neck and head that may also have the ability to attack or spread to other portions of the body. Sickle cell anemia is a disease in which your body results in abnormally shaped red blood cells. The cells are shaped like a curved or sickle.

In cancer, Cytodrox Capsule works by blocking an enzyme that is required for growing cells. This prevents the cancer cells from multiplying and growing. In sickle cell disease, it works by increasing fetal hemoglobin (HbF) (hemoglobin of unborn baby) levels in red blood cells (RBCs). This helps the RBCs accept a normal shape, recovers the flow of blood, and protects against problems like painful sickle cell attacks.

Take Cytodrox Capsule as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Cytodrox Capsule for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical conditions. You may experience loss of appetite (feeling unwell and stomach upset), Increased bleeding tendency, nausea, upset stomach, vomiting. Most of these side effects of Cytodrox Capsule do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Before starting Cytodrox Capsule , please inform your doctor if you have any allergy, kidney disease, liver disease, injury on your legs, HIV or AIDS, high level of uric acid in your blood, and treatment with chemotherapy or radiation. Cytodrox Capsule may increase the chances of other cancer. Inform your doctor about this risk. Immediately contact your doctor if you are pregnant because this Cytodrox Capsule can cause harmful effects on the unborn baby. HydroxycarbamidePrilocaine
Severe
How does the drug interact with Cytodrox Capsule:
Prilocaine has the potential to cause methemoglobinemia (a rare disorder in which the iron in the haemoglobin molecule (the red blood pigment) is defective, preventing it from carrying oxygen to the tissues adequately). This risk increases when used with Cytodrox Capsule, which may lead to methemoglobinemia. When taking these drugs, those who are extremely young (particularly newborns and babies), have heart or lung conditions, certain genetic predispositions, or have a glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiencies may be more likely to develop methemoglobinemia.

How to manage the interaction:
Although taking Cytodrox Capsule and Prilocaine together can possibly result in an interaction, it can be taken if your doctor has advised it. However, if you experience symptoms such as grey discolouration of the skin, abnormal blood colouration, nausea, headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue, shortness of breath, rapid or shallow breathing, a rapid heartbeat, palpitation, anxiety, or confusion, consult a doctor immediately. Do not discontinue any medications without consulting a doctor.

Deferiprone can reduce white blood cell count, and taking it with other medications that might similarly influence white blood cell count or bone marrow function may raise the risk. As a result, you may be more susceptible to get serious infections.

How to manage the interaction:
Co-administration of Cytodrox Capsule with deferiprone can possibly result in an interaction, but it can be taken if your doctor has advised it. However, if you experience fever, chills, diarrhoea, sore throat, muscular pains, shortness of breath, blood in phlegm, weight loss, red or irritated skin, body sores, or discomfort or burning during urination, consult a doctor immediately. Do not discontinue any medications without consulting a doctor.
