Deferataj 500mg Tablet DT belongs to the group of medicines called iron chelators. Deferataj 500mg Tablet DT is indicated for treating chronic iron overload due to blood transfusions (transfusional hemosiderosis) in patients two years older. It can also be indicated for treating chronic iron overload in patients ten years of age and older with non-transfusion-dependent thalassemia (NTDT).

The active ingredient in Deferataj 500mg Tablet DT is deferasirox. It is a trivalent iron selective chelating agent. It binds the excess iron and eliminates it through faeces. The danger of organ damage is reduced as a result.
