Dewax Ear Drops belongs to the group of medicines called otic agents used to soften the hard, solidified, obstructive, impacted external earwax (accumulated earwax) to facilitate easy removal and relieve ear discomforts such as pain and infection. Earwax, also called cerumen helps to protect the inside of the ear canal from micro-organisms and foreign particles. When the ear glands produce more earwax than necessary it gets hard and blocks the ear. Unremoved ear wax can lead to infections.
Dewax Ear Drops is a combination of four medicines: Paradichlorobenzene (hydrating agent), Lignocaine (local anaesthetic), Chlorbutol (preservative) and Turpentine oil (lubricating agent). Paradichlorobenzene softens the ear wax by reducing its thickness. Lignocaine decreases the sensation of pain by blocking the pain signals. Chlorbutol acts as a preservative and wax softener. Turpentine oil acts as a lubricating agent. Together, Dewax Ear Drops helps in softening the ear wax.
