Medicinal Benefits

Dologel contains Benzalkonium chloride, Choline salicylate, and Lignocaine hydrochloride used to treat mouth ulcers. Benzalkonium chloride acts as an antibacterial agent and prevents secondary infections. Thus, it promotes the quick healing of mouth ulcers. Choline salicylate is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that blocks the action of cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzyme in the body that is involved in the production of certain chemical substances such as prostaglandins that cause pain and swelling. Thereby, helps in relieving pain and swelling. Lignocaine hydrochloride is a local anesthetic that decreases pain sensation by preventing the transmission of pain signals from nerves to the brain. Also, Dologel is used to treat Oropharynx (middle part of the throat) inflammation.

About Dologel

Dologel belongs to a class of drugs called analgesics and antiseptics used in the treatment of mouth ulcers and oropharynx (middle part of the throat) inflammation. Mouth ulcers, also known as canker sores are small, painful lesions that develop in the mouth or at the base of the gums. These can make you uncomfortable while eating, drinking, and talking. They usually heal within a few weeks and are not contagious.

Dologel is a combination of three drugs, namely: Benzalkonium chloride (antibacterial agent), Choline salicylate (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug), and Lignocaine hydrochloride (local anesthetic). Dologel is for topical oral use only. You are advised to use Dologel for as long as your doctor has recommended it for you based on your condition. In some cases, you may experience itching or irritation at the site of the application. These side effects of Dologel do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
