Healbact Ointment 6 gm is for external use only. Do not swallow the medicine. Do not use Healbact Ointment 6 gm, if you are allergic to Healbact Ointment 6 gm or other medicines. Do not take Healbact Ointment 6 gm for longer durations unless prescribed by your doctor as a second infection may happen. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive before using Healbact Ointment 6 gm. It is not known whether Healbact Ointment 6 gm passes into breast milk or not. It is advised to seek medical advice before using Healbact Ointment 6 gm if you are a breastfeeding mother. Avoid contact of Healbact Ointment 6 gm with nose, ears, mouth or eyes. In case Healbact Ointment 6 gm comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly. Wear sterile disposable gloves if you apply Healbact Ointment 6 gm for others and keep the treated area clean to prevent further infection. Do not cover the affected areas with bandages or dressing after applying Healbact Ointment 6 gm if the doctor did not advise. Do not apply Healbact Ointment 6 gm in large amounts or use it for a long time than prescribed as it does not give quick or better results but increases the risk of side effects. 

Healbact Ointment 6 gm is a combination of two medicines, namely; 'Sucralfate and Mupirocin' used to treat burns and wound infections. It is also used to treat impetigo (skin infection). Besides this, it is also used as an antiseptic in minor cuts and abrasions. Sucralfate is a protectant with anti-inflammatory properties which forms a coating over the affected skin surface. This creates a physical barrier that protects the skin from further injury and stimulates the synthesis and release of prostaglandins and the epidermal growth factor which stimulates healing. Mupirocin is a topical broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent and has bactericidal activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and yeasts, which contaminate skin and mucosa. It kills the bacteria that cause skin infections by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins and RNA synthesis necessary for the survival of bacteria. Collectively, Healbact Ointment 6 gm prevents the skin infection from spreading, and reduces inflammation symptoms (burning sensation, irritation swelling, and pain). This promotes the healing of burns and wounds.

Healbact Ointment 6 gm belongs to the class of ' Protectants and Antimicrobial agent' primarily used to treat burns, wound infections and bacterial skin infections such as impetigo. A burn damages the skin or deeper tissues caused by hot liquids, fire, electricity and chemicals. The degree of severity of burns is based on the size and depth of the burn. A skin infection can occur when the skin is broken, cut, or wounded. Impetigo is a highly communicable bacterial skin infection that causes red sores on the face.

On the other hand, Mupirocin works by inhibiting the production of essential proteins that are necessary for bacteria to grow, multiply and increase in numbers, thereby preventing the growth of bacteria.  Thereby, Healbact Ointment 6 gm kills bacteria and clears the infection, and reduces inflammation symptoms (burning sensation, irritation swelling, and pain).

Healbact Ointment 6 gm is for external use only. Apply Healbact Ointment 6 gm as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to apply Healbact Ointment 6 gm for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical conditions. In some cases, you may experience a burning sensation at the application site. The side effects of Healbact Ointment 6 gm do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
