LMX 500 Capsule

LMX 500 Capsule belongs to the class of medicines called 'penicillin antibiotics' with probiotics. It treats various bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, skin, urinary tract, tonsillitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia. Besides this, LMX 500 Capsule prevents antibiotic-associated diarrhoea, dysentery (water loss), and infectious diarrhoea. LMX 500 Capsule is a broad-spectrum antibiotic effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. 

LMX 500 Capsule contains two medicines, namely: Amoxycillin (antibiotic) and Lactic acid bacillus (probiotic). Amoxycillin is bactericidal (kills bacteria) that works by preventing the formation of bacterial cell covering (protective cell wall) necessary for their survival, thereby preventing the growth of bacteria. Lactic acid bacillus is a probiotic that helps restore the balance of good bacteria in the gut (digestive tract) destroyed due to the use of antibiotics.

Take LMX 500 Capsule as prescribed. The dose and duration of LMX 500 Capsule can vary depending on your condition and the severity of the infection. Sometimes, you may experience certain common side effects like skin rashes, nausea, vomiting, bloating, and gas. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
 
Before starting LMX 500 Capsule, please inform your doctor if you have any allergy to any antibiotic (especially penicillin), kidney or liver problems. Consult a doctor before taking LMX 500 Capsule if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol consumption to prevent unpleasant side effects. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking and your health condition to rule out any unpleasant side effects.

Talk to your doctor before taking LMX 500 Capsule if you have glandular fever (fever with a sore throat, swollen glands and extreme tiredness), lymphatic leukaemia (cancer of blood and bone marrow) or HIV infection, since you may be more prone to developing a skin rash. Consult your doctor if you are not urinating regularly or have bladder problems while taking LMX 500 Capsule. Consult your doctor before taking LMX 500 Capsule if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking LMX 500 Capsule to prevent unpleasant side-effects like drowsiness, and it also enhances the amount of medicine in the body leading to toxicity.

LMX 500 Capsule may affect certain laboratory test results like urine or blood tests for liver functioning, and oestriol tests (used to check the development of the baby during pregnancy). Inform the person doing the tests that you are taking LMX 500 Capsule.
