Metpure AM 2.5 Tablet is a combination of two drugs, namely: S-amlodipine (calcium channel blocker) and S-metoprolol (beta-blocker). S-amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that works by acting on muscle cells in the artery walls and relaxes muscle cells. Thereby, it relaxes and widens arteries (blood vessels) and improves the blood flow and oxygen supply to the heart. S-metoprolol belongs to the beta-blockers class that works by blocking beta receptors in the heart and makes the heartbeat slow and with less force. Thereby, it decreases the pressure at which blood is pumped out of the heart and throughout the body. Thus, together they lower high blood pressure.
Metpure AM 2.5 Tablet cause common side effects like tiredness, dizziness, slow heart rate, nausea, headache, orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure when standing up from sitting or lying position), depression, stomach pain, or fluid retention.
Metpure AM 2.5 Tablet should be used with caution in diabetic patients as it may increase the risk of severe low blood sugar levels.
