FAQs

Minofed Injection is an antibiotic that treats bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, which further retards bacterial growth.

Minofed Injection can affect the live vaccines like typhoid vaccine and decrease its effectiveness. Please consult a doctor before you start Minofed Injection if you are undergoing any vaccinations.

Minofed Injection can make your skin more sensitive to the harmful effects of sunlight. Hence, applying sunscreen and wearing protective clothing while using Minofed Injection is advised. It is also recommended to avoid tanning booths and sunlamps.

Iron supplements and antacids (containing calcium, magnesium and aluminium) may lower the absorption and efficiency of Minofed Injection. Hence maintain at least 2 hours gap between Minofed Injection and other medications.

Diarrhoea can be a side-effect of Minofed Injection. Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea (CDAD) is also reported during the usage of antibiotics like Minocycline. Therefore, if you have diarrhoea, undergoing an examination is advised to rule out the chances of CDAD following Minofed Injection therapy.

About Minofed Injection

Minofed Injection belongs to the class of 'antibiotics', primarily used to treat bacterial infections. Bacterial infection occurs when harmful bacteria grow in the body and causes illness. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly.

Minofed Injection contains 'Minocycline, a tetracycline antibiotic.' It works by preventing the synthesis of bacterial proteins, the primary cursors for carrying out bacteria's vital functions. This process further inhibits bacterial growth.

Minofed Injection will be administered by a healthcare professional. Common side effects of Minofed Injection include stomach upset, tinnitus/ringing in the ear, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness, light-headedness, pain, redness, and swelling at the injection site. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. If these side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.

Let your doctor know if you have any kidney or liver diseases and allergic reactions to medicines. It is advised to consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking Minofed Injection. This medicine may interfere with your driving ability since it may cause light-headedness/dizziness; in such cases, please do not drive until you are alert. Avoid or limit alcohol consumption. Minofed Injection is not recommended in children below eight years of age.
