Sodium fluoride makes teeth more resistant to tooth decay and bacteria which are responsible for cavities, and it also helps to strengthen the teeth' enamel. It also treats various dental problems, such as bad breath (also called halitosis), gum/periodontal disease (infection of gums surrounding teeth), mouth sores, and tooth erosion (loss of tooth structure).
