Olithro Eye Ointment 5 gm belongs to the class of macrolide antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections of the eye such as bacterial conjunctivitis and trachoma conjunctivitis. An inflammation or infection of the transparent membrane that lines the eyelids and eyes is known as bacterial conjunctivitis. Trachoma conjunctivitis is an eye infection caused by Chlamydia trachomatis.

Olithro Eye Ointment 5 gm contains azithromycin which works by killing the conjunctivitis-causing bacteria. Thus Olithro Eye Ointment 5 gm treats bacterial eye infections.

Use Olithro Eye Ointment 5 gm as prescribed by your doctor. The common side-effects of Olithro Eye Ointment 5 gm are burning/stinging sensation, redness and temporary blurred vision. Eye drops: Lie down and tilt your head backwards. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket.
