Orni 500 Tablet belongs to a class of antibacterial medications called 'nitroimidazoles' primarily used to treat infections caused by protozoans & bacteria. It is used to treat amoebiasis, chlamydiosis, giardia infection, trichomonas infection, vaginal, urinary tract, intestinal and post-operative infections. Orni 500 Tablet does not work against infections caused by the virus, including cold and flu.
Orni 500 Tablet contains 'Ornidazole' that works by damaging the DNA of the infection-causing agent and inhibiting their growth. Thereby treats infections.
In some cases, Orni 500 Tablet may cause common side-effects such as nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, and taste disturbances. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.
Do not take Orni 500 Tablet on your own as self-medication may lead to antibiotic-resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections. Consult your doctor before taking Orni 500 Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Orni 500 Tablet may cause dizziness and sleepiness, so be cautious while driving. Avoid alcohol consumption while on treatment with Orni 500 Tablet and for three days after the treatment.
