Pitalol 20mg Injection works by blocking the receptors in the cardiovascular system, this helps in decreasing the blood pressure in the blood vessels. Thereby, helping in lowering the blood pressure to normal.

Postural hypotension could be a side-effect of Pitalol 20mg Injection. Postural hypotension is a sudden lowering in blood pressure leading to dizziness on standing. If you experience this, do not try to stand up suddenly or start walking, instead lie down and get up slowly only when you feel better.

Pitalol 20mg Injection is used to treat severe hypertension of pregnancy (high blood pressure in pregnancy) when the blood pressure needs to be lowered rapidly.

Pitalol 20mg Injection may cause erectile dysfunction (impotence). Please consult your doctor if you have any concerns regarding these.

Pitalol 20mg Injection might mask the effects of sudden blood loss and might affect pupils during cataract surgery, so inform the surgeon ahead of time that you are on treatment with Pitalol 20mg Injection if you are due to have surgery.

About Pitalol 20mg Injection

Pitalol 20mg Injection belongs to the group of anti-hypertensive medicines called beta-blocking agents used to treat severe hypertension (high blood pressure). Additionally, Pitalol 20mg Injection is used to control high blood pressure in pregnancy and during anaesthesia. 
 
Pitalol 20mg Injection contains ‘labetalol’ that works by blocking the receptors in the cardiovascular (circulatory) system, this helps in decreasing the blood pressure in the blood vessels. Thus, it helps lower the blood pressure to normal.
 
In some cases, Pitalol 20mg Injection may cause common side effects such as postural hypotension, dizziness, fatigue, and headache. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.
 
Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Pitalol 20mg Injection is not recommended for children below 18 years as efficacy and safety have not been established. Drug Warnings

Do not take Pitalol 20mg Injection if you are allergic to any of its contents; if you have heart diseases like heart block or sick sinus syndrome (unless you have a pacemaker), heart failure or cardiogenic shock, ongoing low blood pressure, extremely slow heart rate, Prinzmetal angina, asthma or obstructive airway disease, or phaeochromocytoma (tumour of the adrenal gland). Inform your doctor if you have peripheral vascular disease (Raynaud's syndrome or intermittent claudication), diabetes, overactive thyroid, metabolic acidosis, respiratory system problems, heart, kidney or liver problems.
