Preticort Ointment reduces pain, swelling and inflammation associated with various skin conditions. It works by blocking the release of chemicals in the body that cause inflammation. It also narrows the blood vessels at the affected area, decreasing the permeability of cells (including white blood cells) into the affected site.

Preticort Ointment weakens your immune system and increases the risk of getting infections. So, make sure you stay away from people who are sick or have infections, especially chickenpox and measles.

Prolonged use of topical steroids is not recommended unless prescribed by the doctor based on your medical condition.

Please do not stop using Preticort Ointment on your own, even if the symptoms are relieved. Your symptoms may improve before the skin infection is completely cured. Continue the usage of Preticort Ointment until your course is finished that advised by your doctor.

Preticort Ointment is for topical (for skin) use only. Do not put a bandage or dressing on the affected area unless the doctor advises while treating with Preticort Ointment. Do not apply Preticort Ointment on mucous membranes, lesions, or large areas of skin. If the medicine gets into your eyes, nose or mouth, rinse thoroughly with cold water.

About Preticort Ointment

Preticort Ointment belongs to a group of medications called ‘corticosteroids’ used in the treatment of various inflammatory skin conditions. This medicine is used in the treatment of skin diseases like dermatitis (skin inflammation), sub-acute cutaneous lupus erythematosus, psoriasis, eczema, dermatoses (skin lesions), and other inflammatory conditions.

Preticort Ointment contains ‘Triamcinolone acetonide,’ which belongs to the class of ‘corticosteroids’. It is an anti-inflammatory agent and immunosuppressant that controls inflammation by acting on the immune system. It prevents the release of chemicals that cause inflammation. This effect helps in reducing swelling, pain and discomfort.

Preticort Ointment is for topical (skin) use only. Your doctor will advise the appropriate use of Preticort Ointment that suits your infection. Common side effects of Preticort Ointment include itching, dryness, irritation, redness and a burning sensation at the application site. These side effects are temporary and gradually resolve over time. If these side effects persist, please consult your doctor. 

Preticort Ointment should be avoided if you are allergic to it. Please do not use it more often or for a longer time than your doctor prescribed; also, do not stop the medication abruptly. Directions for Use

Cream/Ointment/Lotion: It is for topical (for skin use) only. Clean and dry the affected area. Then, apply a thin layer of the medicine to the affected areas of the skin. Wash your hands before and after use. Avoid applying it to broken skin or open wounds. Do not use other creams or moisturisers at the same time. If the medication accidentally gets into the eyes, nose or mouth, rinse with water immediately.Spray: Shake well and spray it on the affected areas holding the container about 3 to 6 inches away, then rub it gently.
