FAQs

RICOVIR L TABLET is a combination of two drugs, namely: Lamivudine and Tenofovir disoproxil. RICOVIR L TABLET works by interfering with the working of nucleotide and nucleoside reverse transcriptase enzymes which are necessary for the reproduction of the virus. Together, RICOVIR L TABLET helps in treating HIV infection.

Do not stop taking RICOVIR L TABLET without consulting your doctor as it may reduce the effectiveness of anti-HIV therapy. Continue taking RICOVIR L TABLET for as long as your doctor has prescribed it. Do not be reluctant to speak with your doctor if you experience any difficulty while taking RICOVIR L TABLET.

RICOVIR L TABLET might cause lactic acidosis (excess of lactic acid in the blood), a rare but severe side effect, especially in women who are obese and people with liver disease. Consult a doctor immediately if you experience stomach pain, vomiting, nausea, drowsiness, and deep rapid breathing, as these could be the signs of lactic acidosis.

RICOVIR L TABLET does not cure HIV infection. You may still develop other illnesses and infections associated with HIV infection. Take necessary precautions, as you can pass on HIV to others.

RICOVIR L TABLET may cause bone problems such as osteonecrosis (death of bone tissue due to loss of blood supply to the bone). Regular bone density test is advised while taking RICOVIR L TABLET. For good bone health, take calcium and vitamin D supplements as told by the doctor. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience aches, pain, joint stiffness, and difficulty in movement, as these could be signs of osteonecrosis.

Even though the risk of infecting others is lowered by RICOVIR L TABLET, you can still pass on HIV while taking it. Therefore, it is important to take necessary precautions to avoid infecting others.
