Virazide 100mg Capsule contains Ribavirin, an antiviral drug that works by inhibiting the action of viral RNA (genetic material) that is essential for the virus to multiply. Thereby, it stops the virus from making new viruses and helps in reducing the amount of hepatitis C virus in the body.

Hepatitis C virus infection is contagious and spreads from one person to another through contact with an infected person’s blood. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid sharing personal items or needles containing the blood of an infected person.

You are not recommended to take Virazide 100mg Capsule with zidovudine (a medicine used to treat HIV/AIDS), as it may reduce the effectiveness of zidovudine. Please consult your doctor before taking Virazide 100mg Capsule with other medicines. However, regular blood tests are recommended to make sure that HIV infection is not getting worse.

Virazide 100mg Capsule may cause lactic acidosis (excess of lactic acid in the blood), a rare but severe side effect especially in women who are very obese. However, if you experience stomach pain, vomiting or nausea while taking Virazide 100mg Capsule, please consult a doctor immediately.

You are not recommended to stop taking Virazide 100mg Capsule without consulting your doctor as it may worsen the infection or cause recurring symptoms. Virazide 100mg Capsule belongs to a class of drugs called antivirals used in the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Virazide 100mg Capsule is used in combination with other medicines. Hepatitis C is a severe liver infection caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). It is contagious (spreads from one person to another) and spreads through contact with the infected person’s blood.
