Medicinal Benefits Mweb

Medicinal Benefits

Visco Syrup is a combination of four drugs: Aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, simethicone, and sodium alginate. Visco Syrup belongs to a group of medicines called antacids used to treat acidity, heartburn, indigestion, gastritis (inflammation of the stomach), stomach upset, and bloating. Aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide work by neutralising excess stomach acid. Simethicone works by decreasing the surface tension of gas bubbles, thereby facilitating the expulsion of gas through flatus or belching (burping). It also prevents the accumulation and formation of gas in the digestive tract. Sodium alginate forms a protective barrier, thereby preventing irritation due to acid. Together, Visco Syrup provides relief from acidity.

About Visco Syrup

Visco Syrup belongs to a group of medicines called antacids used to treat acidity, heartburn, indigestion, gastritis (inflammation of the stomach), stomach upset, and bloating. The stomach is usually protected from acid by a mucous layer. In some cases, due to excess acid production, the mucous layer gets eroded, which leads to complications like acidity and heartburn.

Visco Syrup contains Aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, simethicone, and sodium alginate. Aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide work by neutralising excess stomach acid. Simethicone works by decreasing the surface tension of gas bubbles, thereby facilitating the expulsion of gas through flatus or belching (burping). Sodium alginate forms a protective barrier, thereby preventing irritation due to acid. Together, Visco Syrup provides relief from acidity.

You are advised to take Visco Syrup for as long as your doctor has recommended it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience common side effects, such as constipation and diarrhoea. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid consuming alcohol, as it could lead to increased acidity. Inform your doctor regarding other medicines you are taking to prevent any side effects/interactions.
