FAQs

Wettox Syrup works by widening and relaxing the airways and thinning the mucus by making it less viscous. This helps in easy coughing out of phlegm and makes breathing easier.

Inform your doctor before taking Wettox Syrup, if you have any pre-existing ischemic heart disease, liver and kidney diseases, stomach ulcers, seizures (fits), thyroid disorders, high blood pressure, diabetes, stomach ulcer, inflammation of air passages, lung disorders, and difficulty in breathing.

Wettox Syrup may affect the blood sugar/blood glucose levels. You are advised to regularly monitor your blood glucose levels while taking Wettox Syrup. Inform your doctor if you have diabetes before consuming Wettox Syrup.

Wettox Syrup consists of Ambroxol hydrochloride, which can cause hypokalaemia (low potassium levels in the blood). Therefore, Wettox Syrup should be used with caution in patients with bronchospasm (narrowed airways with wheezing sound while breathing).

Wettox Syrup may cause diarrhoea as one of its side effects. So it is advisable to drink plenty of water and fluids to stay hydrated. Please consult your doctor if you experience excessive diarrhoea or blood in the stools.

Do not stop taking Wettox Syrup even if you feel better, as it may worsen your condition. Therefore, take Wettox Syrup for as long as your doctor has prescribed it, and if you experience any difficulty while taking Wettox Syrup, please consult your doctor.

You may experience shakiness after using Wettox Syrup. So, it is advisable to avoid driving or operating heavy machinery in such cases until you are alert and focused. Consult your doctor if the condition persists longer.

About Wettox Syrup

Wettox Syrup is a combination medication used to treat productive cough associated with bronchial asthma, bronchiectasis, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD), bronchitis (inflammation of bronchial tubes), and emphysema (shortness of breath). Coughing (dry or productive) is a body's way of clearing irritants (like allergens, mucus or smoke) from airways and preventing infection.

Wettox Syrup consists of Ambroxol hydrochloride, Terbutaline sulphate, Guaiphenesin, and Menthol. Ambroxol hydrochloride is a mucolytic agent that makes sputum less viscous, making it easier to cough out. Terbutaline sulphate is a bronchodilator that works by widening and relaxing the airways of the lungs. Guaiphenesin is an expectorant which reduces the thickness/viscosity of bronchial secretions (phlegm) and increases mucus flow making it easier to cough. Menthol relieves throat irritation.

Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of the course based on the severity of your condition. In some cases, Wettox Syrup may cause common side effects like nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, sweating, muscle cramps, dizziness, and headache. These side effects do not require medical attention and resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Let your doctor know if you have any allergic reactions to Wettox Syrup or any other medication. Inform your doctor if you have heart, liver, kidney diseases, stomach ulcers, seizures (fits), high blood pressure, thyroid disorders, diabetes, inflammation of air passages, lung disorders, and difficulty breathing before taking Wettox Syrup. Check with your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol while taking Wettox Syrup, since it can worsen side effects like dizziness and sleepiness.
