FAQs

Zedex-P Cold Syrup consists of four medicines, namely: Bromhexine (mucolytic), Dextromethorphan (cough suppressant), Phenylephrine (decongestant), Menthol (Coolant). Bromhexine makes sputum less viscous and makes it easier to cough out. Dextromethorphan relieves cough by reducing cough receptor activity, thereby affecting signals in the brain that trigger cough reflex. Phenylephrine helps in shrinking the blood vessels in the nostrils and the passage and reducing stuffy nose. Menthol produces a cooling sensation and relieves throat irritation.

Zedex-P Cold Syrup should preferably be used after taking your meal to decrease the occurrence of side effects. Please follow your doctor's advice on how you should use this medicine.

Inform your doctor before taking Zedex-P Cold Syrup, if you have any heart, liver, kidney diseases, depression and Parkinson's disease.

Yes, you may experience headaches and shakiness after using Zedex-P Cold Syrup. Drink plenty of water and take a rest to manage your headache. Shakiness goes away gradually. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist longer.

Zedex-P Cold Syrup is not recommended for use if you have a stomach ulcer since mucolytics like Bromohexine may disrupt the gastric mucosal barrier, therefore cautiously administered in patients with a stomach ulcer.

About Zedex-P Cold Syrup

Zedex-P Cold Syrup belongs to a class of respiratory medications called 'expectorant' primarily used to treat cough. Coughing (dry or productive) is the body's way of clearing irritants (like allergens, mucus or smoke) from the airways. There are two types of coughs, namely: Dry cough and chesty cough. A dry cough is tickly and doesn't produce thick mucus, while a chesty cough (wet cough) produces mucous or sputum that helps clear the airways.

Zedex-P Cold Syrup consists of four medicines, namely: Bromhexine (mucolytic), Dextromethorphan (cough suppressant), Phenylephrine (decongestant), and Menthol (Coolant). Bromhexine makes sputum less viscous and makes it easier to cough out. Dextromethorphan relieves cough by reducing cough receptor activity, thereby affecting signals in the brain that trigger the cough reflex. Phenylephrine helps shrink the blood vessels in the nostrils and the passage and reduces stuffy noses. Menthol produces a cooling sensation and relieves throat irritation.

Zedex-P Cold Syrup should be taken as prescribed by the doctor. Some people may experience nausea, diarrhoea, bloating, indigestion, vomiting, stomach upset, sweating, dizziness, headache, and skin rash. Most of these side effects of Zedex-P Cold Syrup do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Do not use Zedex-P Cold Syrup if you are allergic to any components present in it. Brief your medical history to the doctor if you have any heart, liver, kidney, lung diseases, depression and Parkinson's disease before taking Zedex-P Cold Syrup. Zedex-P Cold Syrup can cause sleepiness; hence avoid taking alcohol while using Zedex-P Cold Syrup. Zedex-P Cold Syrup may affect your ability to drive. It is advised not to drive whilst taking this medicine. Check with your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking other prescribed or non-prescribed drugs.
