Myoflex Ointment

Do not use Myoflex Ointment if you are allergic to any of its contents, if you have/had severe heart problems, stomach ulcer or perforation, and bleeding problems such as bleeding from the stomach, intestine or brain, bypass surgery, heart attack, blood circulation problems or inflammation of intestines. Inform your doctor if you are taking any NSAID/painkillers orally. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Myoflex Ointment is not recommended for children as safety and effectiveness have not been established. Stop using Myoflex Ointment and consult your doctor immediately if you have stomach pain or any signs of bleeding in the intestine or stomach, such as blood in stools.

Myoflex Ointment is a combination of five drugs: Capsaicin, Methyl salicylate, Eucalyptus oil, Camphor and Menthol. Myoflex Ointment is used to relieve pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal disorders, arthritis, back pain, sore muscles, joint pain, sprain, rheumatoid arthritis and leg cramps. Methyl salicylate works by blocking chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation. Capsaicin exerts an analgesic effect by blocking the pain messengers to the nerves. Eucalyptus oil helps in reducing inflammation. Camphor and Menthol provide a cooling sensation by dilating the blood vessels, followed by an analgesic effect. Together, Myoflex Ointment helps in providing relief from pain and inflammation.

You are advised to use Myoflex Ointment for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as application site reactions like itching, irritation, redness and burning sensation. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Myoflex Ointment is not recommended for children as safety and efficacy have not been established. Avoid or limit exposure to natural or artificial sunlight or tanning beds, as it might cause a burning sensation. Do not take any other NSAIDs for pain relief along with Myoflex Ointment unless prescribed.
