Currently, there is no known medication that can completely cure otosclerosis. While some physicians prescribe Otoflour (sodium fluoride) to potentially slow the disease progression by stabilizing abnormal bone metabolism in the ear, its effectiveness remains debated, and it is not a cure. Similar agents, such as bisphosphonates, are sometimes considered under specialist supervision. For significant hearing loss, hearing aids or stapedectomy surgery remain the most effective treatment options.

Otosclerosis is an abnormal bone growth in the middle ear that impairs sound transmission, often resulting in conductive or mixed hearing loss. Treatment options include the use of hearing aids to enhance sound perception or surgical procedures such as stapedectomy or stapedotomy to restore hearing. In advanced cases with significant sensorineural hearing loss (damage to the inner ear hair cells or nerve pathways), cochlear implantation may be considered. It is important to consult an otolaryngologist (ENT specialist) to determine the most appropriate treatment plan.

There is currently no complete cure for otosclerosis. The only treatment that reliably restores hearing is stapedectomy surgery, which replaces the fixed stapes bone with a prosthesis. Medications like sodium fluoride may slow disease progression, but cannot reverse hearing loss.
