Ofax Eye Ointment 5 gm works by inhibiting DNA gyrase (bacterial enzyme) involved in repairing and replicating the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria. Thereby, kills bacteria and clears the infection.

You are not recommended to wear contact lenses while using Ofax Eye Ointment 5 gm as it contains benzalkonium chloride, a preservative that changes the colour of contact lens as it may be absorbed by soft contact lens. Benzalkonium chloride also causes irritation in the eye especially if you have disorders of cornea (transparent layer at the front of eye) or dry eyes. Therefore, you are advised to remove contact lenses before using Ofax Eye Ointment 5 gm and reinsert them after 15 minutes after using Ofax Eye Ointment 5 gm. Also, inform your doctor if you experience pain, stinging or abnormal sensation in the eye after using Ofax Eye Ointment 5 gm.

Ofax Eye Ointment 5 gm may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after using. Therefore, you are recommended to wait until your vision is clear before driving or operating machinery.

Ofax Eye Ointment 5 gm is not used to treat fungal infection in the eye. Ofax Eye Ointment 5 gm is only used to treat bacterial eye infections.

You are not recommended to stop using Ofax Eye Ointment 5 gm without consulting your doctor as it may worsen the infection. About Ofax Eye Ointment 5 gm

Ofax Eye Ointment 5 gm belongs to the class of medicines called antibiotics used to treat bacterial eye infections including conjunctivitis and ulcers of the cornea. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is a common bacterial eye infection associated with the inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva (white part of the eye) and the inner eyelid.

Directions for Use
