About Varpraz 1gm Injection

Varpraz 1gm Injection belongs to the group of medicines called broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotics used for the treatment, control, prevention, & improvement of the symptoms of conditions like respiratory tract infections and bacterial infections.

Varpraz 1gm Injection contains Cefoperazone. It binds to specific PBPs (penicillin-binding proteins) located inside the bacterial cell wall, causing the inhibition of the third and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis, which is necessary for their survival. Thus it kills bacteria and helps treat bacterial infections.

Varpraz 1gm Injection will be administered by a healthcare professional; do not self-administer. Sometimes, Varpraz 1gm Injection may cause injection site reactions, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, headaches and rash. Most of these side effects of Varpraz 1gm Injection do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, contact your doctor if the side effects persist or bother you.

Before receiving Varpraz 1gm Injection, please inform your doctor if you are allergic to any antibiotic or food products. Medicinal Benefits

Varpraz 1gm Injection contains Cefoperazone. Cefoperazone is a broad-spectrum cephalosporin that has been proposed to be useful against Pseudomonas infections. It is a third-generation antibiotic drug used to treat bacterial infections produced by susceptible organisms in the body, such as respiratory tract infections, peritonitis, skin infections, endometritis, and bacterial septicemia. It works by inhibiting the third and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis, which is necessary for their survival. Thus, it kills bacteria and helps treat bacterial infections.

Side effects of Varpraz 1gm Injection
  • Managing a low platelet count (thrombocytopenia) caused by medication usage requires a multi-step approach. Here are some steps to help manage the condition:
  • Inform your doctor about your low platelet count and medication usage. They will assess the situation and guide the best course of action.
  • Your doctor may recommend adjusting or stopping the medication that is causing a low platelet count. This could involve switching to alternative medication or reducing the dosage.
  • Monitor your platelet count regularly through blood tests to track any changes. This will help the doctor determine the effectiveness of the treatment plan.
  • If an underlying condition, such as infection or inflammation, contributes to the low platelet count, your doctor will treat it.
  • In some cases, alternative treatments like platelet transfusions or medications that stimulate platelet production may be necessary.
  • Avoid risky activities and certain medications; eat a balanced diet with plenty of water to reduce bleeding risk and boost overall health.
  • If you experience severe bleeding or bruising, seek emergency medical attention immediately.
  • Maintain a healthy diet with fruits, whole grains, and vegetables.
  • Include easy-to-digest and antioxidant-rich food in your diet.
  • Drink plenty of water and unsweetened liquids.

  • Use a cool, damp cloth on the itchy area to help soothe and calm the skin, reducing itching and inflammation.
  • Keep your skin hydrated and healthy with gentle, fragrance-free moisturizers.
  • Try not to scratch, as this can worsen the itching and irritate your skin.
  • If your doctor prescribes, you can take oral medications or apply topical creams or ointments to help relieve itching.
  • Track your itching symptoms and follow your doctor's guidance to adjust your treatment plan if needed. If the itching persists, consult your doctor for further advice.

Drug Warnings

Avoid taking Varpraz 1gm Injection if you are allergic to any of its components. Notify your doctor immediately if you experience any allergic reactions after taking Varpraz 1gm Injection. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you take and your health conditions, especially colitis (inflammation in the colon's lining) and hypoprothrombinaemia (decreased prothrombin production), to rule out any unpleasant side effects. Antibiotic resistance develops when bacteria gain the ability to resist the treatment that was designed to kill them. This can be avoided by complying with the dose and duration of therapy as suggested by your doctor. Even if your symptoms improve after a few doses of Cefoperazone, complete the entire course of medication.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • It would be best to take probiotics after taking the full course of Varpraz 1gm Injection to restore some healthy bacteria in the intestine that may have been killed. Taking probiotics after antibiotic treatment can reduce the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Certain fermented foods like yoghurt, cheese, sauerkraut and kimchi can help restore the intestine's good bacteria.
  • Include more fibre-enriched food in your diet, as it can be easily digested by gut bacteria, which helps stimulate their growth. Thus fibre foods may help restore healthy gut bacteria after taking a course of antibiotics. Whole grains, like whole-grain bread and brown rice, should be included in your diet.
  • Avoid taking too many calcium-enriched foods and drinks as it might affect the working of Varpraz 1gm Injection.
  • Avoid intake of alcoholic beverages with Varpraz 1gm Injection as it can make you dehydrated and affect your sleep. This can make it harder for your body to aid the Varpraz 1gm Injection in fighting off infections.
