Seeking a second opinion from another experienced ENT specialist or a qualified audiologist is appropriate and can provide reassurance regarding the diagnosis. Additional tests, such as audiometry or a high-resolution CT scan of the temporal bone, may be recommended to confirm the presence and extent of otosclerosis, guide treatment decisions, and rule out other possible causes of hearing loss.

Neither juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) nor otosclerosis is primarily treated with medications. JNA is a benign but highly vascular tumour that requires surgical removal, often after a procedure called embolization to reduce bleeding during surgery. Otosclerosis, which causes hearing loss due to abnormal bone growth in the middle ear, is mainly managed with surgical treatment such as stapedectomy or stapedotomy or with hearing aids. While certain medications may sometimes be prescribed to slow disease progression in otosclerosis, they are not curative. It is important to consult an ENT specialist for individualised treatment planning and to avoid self-medication, as these conditions require specialised care.

Currently, there is no known medication that can completely cure otosclerosis. While some physicians prescribe Otoflour (sodium fluoride) to potentially slow the disease progression by stabilizing abnormal bone metabolism in the ear, its effectiveness remains debated, and it is not a cure. Similar agents, such as bisphosphonates, are sometimes considered under specialist supervision. For significant hearing loss, hearing aids or stapedectomy surgery remain the most effective treatment options.
