I have otosclerosis. Could you please tell me if there is any medication that can cure it or measures I can take to prevent its progression? I am currently taking Otoflour tablets. Are there any other similar medications?
Currently, there is no known medication that can completely cure otosclerosis. While some physicians prescribe Otoflour (sodium fluoride) to potentially slow the disease progression by stabilizing abnormal bone metabolism in the ear, its effectiveness remains debated, and it is not a cure. Similar agents, such as bisphosphonates, are sometimes considered under specialist supervision. For significant hearing loss, hearing aids or stapedectomy surgery remain the most effective treatment options.
