Elcovir Cream 5 Gm is excreted through the kidneys, dehydration may cause damage to kidney functions. Elcovir Cream 5 Gm infusion over an hour is recommended in dehydrated patients. Urine output should be monitored.

Patients undergoing hemodialysis should be given Elcovir Cream 5 Gm after completing hemodialysis as hemodialysis removes 60% of Elcovir Cream 5 Gm from the body.
