Acylab 5% Cream treats viral infections caused by the herpes simplex and varicella-zoster viruses. It consists of Acyclovir, an antiviral drug. It works by killing and stopping the growth of the virus. Acylab 5% Cream effectively treats herpes simplex encephalitis (brain inflammation by herpes simplex virus) and neonatal herpes simplex virus infection. Acylab 5% Cream is also useful in preventing the reactivation of the cytomegalovirus infection in seropositive (showing a positive result of a blood test for a particular antibody) patients following bone marrow transplantation.

Acylab 5% Cream contains acyclovir, it exerts antiviral activity against herpes simplex viruses (HSV) by interfering with DNA synthesis and limiting viral replication. Thus it treats recurrent herpes labialis (cold sores).

Acylab 5% Cream is contraindicated in patients allergic to acyclovir, valacyclovir or any component of the formulation.
